Diva's don't have time to wait for opportunity to knock! Sometimes we just have to sashay on over and make them happen! It's true while being "smart assy ain't classy" a diva has to sometimes tell people to "kiss my sass" to get things going and that is exactly what happened!

So last weekend I attended Ashley Stewart's #loveyourcurves event to support some of the other local PRGirls and my PRSister who has a new gig that requires her to be suited & booted! And while the life of a PR Gal/Social Media DIVA may look like "The Glamorous Life" that Sheila E sang about it's NOT; we're just really good at spinin' things and posting the right pictures to make it look like it is!

So anyhoo while I was soo not MYOBing and tryna get my girl to try on somethings, while I was talkin' her up to the Ashley Stewart rep. I was hoping to get her a hookup to Brand Ambassador land...yeah but the "Rep" wasn't feelin me...

You know that saying  "when one door closes another opens?" , well as the "Rep" was blowing me off ...our Shopping Angel walks by and then doubles back. She interrupts me and my PRSister from our air mouthed argument to ask if she can help us. Before my PRSister could say no, I said sure she was like great!   We spent the next 30 minutes with our Shopping Angel who pulled some great outfits for my PRSister to try on but when it was all said and done she only felt comfortable buyin a belt! WOMP WOMP. But our Shopping Angel  was not done with us!

Now y'all know how my son's always tell me not to talk to strangers? Well I'm so glad I don't listen to them on the regular! Cuz guess what y'all our Shopping Angel, turned out to be radio host Terry Tlove  from Be100! That's right the "star" of Deb Antney's network Mizay Entertainment!

Guess who she invited on her show?? That's right US! And guess what else?? We're getting makeovers! Queue the music! She's got big thoughts, big dreams....dah dah dah   She wants to lead the glamorous life

Diva's Come in All Sizes !

Last week two wonderful PR specialists the Curvy Fashionista and Gwen Wunderlich-Smith hosted a series of events around town for Ashley Stewart. OMG those plus size diva's live lavishly and chile do they know how to party!!

Now I know some of you are saying WTH??? You're barely a size 8 but hey wait now... there were those first years after becoming a widow, when I blossomed up to a size sexy 14! And then when I had the ex-factor in my life I stayed playing in the garden of plushness. And all I want to know is where in the heck was Ashley Stewart back then???

Anyhoo we hung out at a few of the Ashley Stewart events this week and walked their pink carpet, cheered the ladies who participated in the fashion shows and other events it was great!

If I were a plus size diva.... I'd shop at Ashley Stewart! #loveyourcurves

A Diva In A Blue Dress

That's right SocialMMMDiva set the Georgia Entertainment Gala on FIRE!! 

Okay okay maybe not on fire but I certainly had people doing a double take! This past weekend was a BDD here in Atlanta! That's right Saturday was the 3rd Annual Georgia Entertainment Gala.  I know you're wondering how did I score such a sweet invitation to an event of this caliber. Well I'm a Social Diva of course! No seriously my client director Brandon "2Mill" Thaxton was on hand to present the 2015 People to Watch in the Georgia Entertainment Industry award; which he and his business partner Errol Sadler won in 2014 for their company Supremacy Films.

So anyhoo y'all know that I wasn't about to let him go up on stage without being there to support him. And so even though I have an extreme dislike for shopping during the winter months, when all the rookies are out. I set out to the mall to find myself a bad azzz dress! For some reason on this night the stars must of all been in alignment because I went into one store and found a dress a size 7 no less (yes y'all I was shoppin in the juniors dept, don't judge me)!Then my hair challenged self couldn't find not one cousin or cousin of a cousin in Georgia to do my hair! So I called my granddaughter's mom and borrowed her cousin and she hooked me up nicely if I do say so myself. But post in the comments your thoughts.

Now it's time to head to the GWCC, so I put on my blue dress, rhinestone shoes and UBER'd away !
Mmmmhmm you guessed it roadblock here I come! Just as the driver attempt to turn down the street to the Georgia World Congress Center the police had put up a barricade! Well the driver says don't worry they do that for the general public. They're going to let us through.Uhhh NO! They didn't let us in but I noticed they let a few cab drivers in but anyhoo I didn't have time to wait I need to walk that red carpet! Umm I mean... I needed to support my client...yes support my client...so I get out of the uber car AND walked the almost 4 blocks to the GWCC! You read that right....walked in my 5 inch heels!  It took me about 10 minutes but I wasn't sweatin' or messing my hair up! Y'all know I'm hair challenged.

As luck would have it there was no wind and no rain tonight so.... I still looked fabulous when I watched my client head on up to that stage to present this years award to the winner. Who turned out to be a good friend of the Supremacy Films family, Jasmine Burke! Did I mention that, this year it was hosted by actress Naturi Naughton of the Starz drama Power? Well it was that girl is kinda funny y'all...be sure to check her out on Power but keep in mind that is not a comedy!

Autmun Essie Bailey-Ford the creator of the Georgia Entertainment Gala did an awesome job with this year's event and I for one can't wait to see what she has in store for the 2016 event!  

It's been real y'all I had a great time enjoy the pic's but a sista on the rise work is never done so I'ma about to be up till dawn writing press releases and letting the world know that Brandon and his wooden bow ties by Ella Bing had the Georgia World Congress Center all a buzz!

Even A Diva Knows, Sex Ain't Love, But One Good Interview Though....

Many of you know that I've been doing some PR and Social work for indie films for the last few years and well I've been working with an indie filmmaker by the name of Will Adams on the premiere of his new film, Sex Ain't Love. Now let me admit I was having some anxiety about the results and how things were going until

It started off with Damon Williams mentioning the movie on the Tom Joyner Morning show 

in his weekly segment, Seriously Ignorant News. We sold out of tickets to the premiere shortly after that! A sista was feeling blessed! Listen here

Well after that segment aired I was like welp there are just 2 days left to the premiere and no news people have contacted me about doing an interview about the movie or my client! At this point I'm still feeling blessed but beginning to be stressed! But I decide to dig in my heels and send one more e-mail and this time I would use the clip from the Tom Joyner show. So I crafted a fabulous e-mail that included the previous pitch along with the new clip from Tom Joyner show and with in 15 minutes I was contacted by Good Day Chicago!

Wayyyy Back Wednesday!

Sometimes it's good to take a walk down memory lane and do something that reminds us of a good time! And soooooooooooooooooooo I present you with Alphonso doing the "Carlton" my family and I really enjoyed the Fresh Prince of BelAire, especially the episodes when Cartlon and sometimes Will did this dance! I Think I Found The Perfect .....

OMG !! Y'all I think I found the perfect job! 

So everyone knows that I am slightly hair challenged, right?  After taking out my braids that I wore from the time I gave birth to my son until 2011; learning to do my hair and look good for 8 consecutive hours is just a bit much! Especially in this Hotlanta humidity!

I know I know some of you are saying what does that have to do with the "perfect job"?  EVERYTHING! Last week I went on a job interview at McBride Research in Decatur, Georgia. now when the recruiter first told me about the job I was like, Mc Bride Research what kind of gadgets do they make?  But to my surprise they didn’t make gadgets! They make Hair Care products!! And for African American women at that! I was like this could get interesting so I do what I always do when I have hair issues I reached out to the “Server set” aka 20 of my 30 first cousins on my mother’s side of the family. I love how things have progressed over the years no more sending a group message over AT&T’s voicemail system I pulled out my phone and sent a text that went to our family’s facebook page and everyone’s cell phones! Yep I turned to my cousins or sister cousins as we like to say because we’re close like sisters. Well y’all know that about 8 of them do hair professionally and well the other 12 have great looking hair just because. I must have gotten my hair handling skill sets from the Rogers side….sigh.. anyhoo I sent out the call for help to find out about McBride Research and their signature product Design Essentials. Well the first few responses were very sarcastic! Three of the “cousins” were like really KK…seriously? And then my cousin Misti posted to the page, “look dumb dumb!” Those are the products that I used in your hair back in January when I took your weave down! Remember you said,”OMG my hair smells like peppermint pops”. Yes y’all I really said that! Side eye roll to Misti for remembering and busting me out on the family FB page.

So then I posted, Why are they not more popular with the “hair challenged” sista’s like me?  Every last one of the cousins started posting these crazy emoticons! Not really sure what that was about…I tell ya family can be rough on you. I mean do I give them the side eye roll when they ask me crazy questions about tech stuff?! _______________ 0__O Ok so yeah sometimes I do but anyhoo. It’s not about me! Well yeah it is…so ok they tell me that this stuff is better than anything the other major African American Hair Care companies are offering! As a matter of fact 16 out of 20 cousins say the only thing they buy from the other companies is the HOT SIX Oil!  O yeah 4 of my cousins that live in the Southeast part of the country, agreed to do my hair for free if I got them a sample of this stuff! 

Fast forward to the day of the interview. I’m nervous but I’m armed with all my social media and tech info plus the Haute Hair Care gossip from the “Server set”. 

When I get there the office is nice but let me tell you it smells Divine in there. Just like peppermint pops! I give the receptionist my name and YES her hair was FABULOUS!  She took my name and asked me to be seated while she contacted the ladies who would be interviewing me.In just a few minutes out walks Shana one of the interviewers and immediately I was envious! Why you ask? Because she is rocking braids! O how I so desperately want to be in Corporate America with my braids back! Not sure why the rule is to not be that ethnic until after you’ve been there six weeks! I mean really if they hate my hair that much they’ll just find an excuse to fire me anyway right?? But yes she was rockin’ braids. We chatted for a while then comes in Polly the other interviewer and she has a great natural do as well. I feel like a fish out of water with this weave! When it was all said and done I dazzled them (or at least I think I did) with all of my Social Media and Social Tech knowledge. I tell them that the “Server set” loves their products and an hour ½ later the interview is over! But on my way out I got gifts! That’s right I said gifts!  I got a gorgeous designer gift bag full of goodies and as luck would have it one of my cousins made a surprise visit and HOOKED UP MY HAIR!!

I hope you enjoy the picture of my peppermint pop smelling hair! And let’s all pray I get the job! Because it will be my personal mission to make sure this stuff is not a “Stylists Secret” but that even the hair challenged such as myself get to have hair that smells like the yummy peppermint pops, all the time!  I know you're probably saying wait wait you haven't told us why this is the perfect job! Well here it is that at 40+, I may just finally learn to take care of my hair and use the right products to keep it looking good! Without alienating the “Server set”

The first day back after a holiday, always seems to take FOREVER to get through!
